Maharashtra: Police recruitment in December again; 7,500 posts to be filled across the State, 1,200 in Mumbai
Mumbai: As many as 35,000 posts of police personnel were filled in the past two years. Now, the police recruitment will again take place in December. Around 7,500 personnel will be recruited, including 1,200 in Mumbai. A mega police recruitment was announced in 2022-23.
Recruitment of personnel was not done in the State Police Force from the Coronavirus pandemic for three years. In the past two years, 18,000 and 17,000 posts were filled, respectively. However, 7,000 more personnel are required. Therefore, they will be recruited in December.
Earlier, the Home Ministry directed the District Collectors to fill the current 14,471 posts. A written test for the posts of police constable, police driver and bandsman has been conducted in five districts. It has been instructed to complete the process for the remaining districts by September.
The Mumbai Police could not start the recruitment due to non-availability of grounds during the rainy season. However, it will be completed soon. Then the new recruitment will start.
Capacity of training centres to go up
The respective capacity of 10 police training centres in the State has been enhanced. Around 8,400 policemen are trained in the centres. The capacity will be doubled in the near future.
Boost for the Mumbai Police force
In all, 8,000 police personnel were recruited in the Mumbai Police last year. Most of them will join the duty in September.
The process to recruit 4,230 police personnel has begun in Mumbai. Over 5.69 lakh applications have been received for these posts.
Their ground test is underway. The Mumbai Police still need 1,200 personnel, which will be recruited in December.
