Mahesh Landge’s sharp reaction to Abu Azmi’s remarks in State Assembly
Pune: BJP MLA Mahesh Landge came down heavily on SP MLA Abu Azmi for the latter’s remarks on Emperor Aurangzeb in the State Legislative Assembly.
Landge said, “Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb begged before my King Dharmveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to convert to Islam. Why are you glorifying him? People like MLA Abu Azmi need to be crushed not only in the Assembly but also in the streets.”
MLAs belonging to the Maha Yuti staged a protest against Abu Azmi on the steps in front of the State Legislature. They also raised slogans demanding an apology from Azmi. Mahesh Landge also participated in it.
MLA Landge said, “Dharmveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj sacrificed his life for the sake of religion. His life story reached the new generation through the ‘Chhava’ movie. Was a communal people’s representative like Abu Azmi not ashamed when he glorified Aurangzeb?
“The Central Government propagates ‘Hindutva’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our Prime Minister takes a holy dip in Kumbh Mela. He also inculcates the ambition in people’s minds to make India an economic super power. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis controls cow slaughter, ‘Love Jihad’, conversions, ‘Vote Jihad’ while presenting a vision of making Maharashtra a three-trillion economy. Our leaders go to the people with a development agenda with their ‘Hindutva’ ideology. But you are born only to divide people on communal lines.”
Invoke sedition charges against Azmi
Landge said, “Communal people like Abu Azmi are causing a rift among communities. There is a difference between Aurangzeb, who killed his own brother and grabbed power, while Bharat implemented ‘Ram Rajya’ by worshipping his brother’s ‘padukas’. Aurangzeb is not even a patch on my King, who did not give up till his last breath while defending his religion.
“There are still some descendants of Aurangzeb, who do not even speak about development. My Maha Yuti government is following the Hindutva agenda and a resolve and a dream for development. It will teach a lesson to elements glorifying Aurangzeb. An offence of sedition should be filed against Abu Azmi in Maharashtra for causing communal divide. This is my demand before the Assembly.”
