Massive Bus Tragedy in Saudi Arabia; 42 Indians Feared Dead
Saudi Arabia: A major road accident in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday midnight has reportedly resulted in severe loss of life. Around 1:30 AM (IST), a passenger bus collided with a diesel tanker on the Badr–Madina Highway in the Mufrihat area. The impact triggered a massive explosion, causing the bus to catch fire instantly, leaving passengers trapped inside with no chance to escape.
The bus was carrying Indian citizens from Hyderabad and Telangana who were visiting Madina for pilgrimage. It is feared that around 42 Indian nationals may have died in the blaze. However, the official death toll is yet to be confirmed. According to initial information from the tour operator, at least 10 Indian casualties have been verified. Reports indicate that the deceased include around 20 women and 11 young children.
The tragedy occurred while the pilgrims were returning to Madina after visiting Mecca. Local police and emergency responders rushed to the site, and rescue operations are underway. The bus has been completely charred, making victim identification extremely challenging.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep grief over the incident and directed officials to ensure proper identification of the deceased and provide urgent assistance to their families. He has instructed authorities to stay in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia. The state government will soon set up a control room to provide verified updates.
