Massive Liquor Haul in Mulshi: State Excise Team Seizes Rs 76.55 Lakh Worth of Goa-Made Liquor on Paud-Mangaon Road
Pune: In the background of the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival in the state, the Pune Divisional Flying Squad Team of the State Excise Department carried out an extensive operation on Paud-Mangaon road and seized goods worth 76 lakh, 55 thousand, and 500 rupees, including foreign liquor manufactured in Goa in Mulshi taluka, in the limits of Aadarwadi village, in front of Hotel Shailesh.
In the action, police found 33 thousand 600 sealed bottles (700 boxes) of 180 ml capacity of foreign liquor of the brand Poland Pride Premium Collection Reserve Whisky that was manufactured in Goa and was only permitted to be sold in Goa in the vehicle.
In the subsequent action, police also seized a brown six-wheeler tempo vehicle number MH-03-DV 3716 of Tata Motors Company used for transporting liquor and a mobile phone, whose collective worth is approximately Rs 76 lakh 55 thousand 500.
Police arrested the truck driver Zulfikar alias Zulfikar Tajali Chaudhari (age 50), a resident of House No. 204, Mohalla Nali Pada, Masuri Dasna R.S. District Gaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and a case has been registered against him under various sections of the Maharashtra Liquor Prohibition Act, 1949.
This action has been taken by Sub-Inspectors Viraj Mane, Atul Patil, Dheeraj Saste, Jawan Pratap Kadam, Satish Pondhe, Anil Thorat, Shashikant Bhat, Rahul Taraalkar, Women Jawan Usha Ware, etc. on the instructions of Divisional Deputy Commissioner of State Excise Pune Division Sagar Dhomkar.
Further, Pune Divisional Flying Squad Inspector Narendra Thorat has informed that Sub-inspector Viraj Mane is conducting the further investigation in this case.
