MCA Men’s Corporate Tournament 2025-26: Punit Balan Cricket Academy Registers a Big Win, Defeats Kapil Sons by 89 Runs
Pune: In the MCA Men’s Corporate Shield Tournament 2025-26, Punit Balan Cricket Academy delivered a dominant all-round performance to beat Kapil Sons by 89 runs. The match was played at Nehru Stadium, Swargate, Pune.
After winning the toss, the Academy batted first and piled up a massive 404/7 in 50 overs. The innings was built on two match-defining centuries from Pawan Shah and Sachin Dhas.
Openers Harsh Mogaveera (30) and Pawan Shah provided a brisk start, adding 55 runs for the first wicket.
Shah then stitched a huge 151-run partnership for the second wicket with Sachin Dhas.
Pawan Shah struck 101 (101 balls, 11 fours) to bring up his century.
Sachin Dhas followed with a blazing 101 (95 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes).
In the death overs, Siddharth Mhatre played a quickfire knock of 50 off 34 balls, helping the team cross the 400-mark.
Chasing a steep 405, Kapil Sons showed intent but lost wickets at regular intervals.
Siddhesh Veer scored 51 off 38 balls.
Neeraj Joshi (50) and Anurag Kawade (50) also hit half-centuries and tried to keep the chase alive.
However, under mounting run-rate pressure and against disciplined bowling, Kapil Sons were restricted to 315 in 44.5 overs. Notably, Anurag Kawade also completed 1,500 career runs during the match.
The match officials were Akshay Pawar, Mahesh Sawant, and Navin Mane.
