MLA Yogesh Tilekar’s maternal uncle strangled to death; DCP R Raja gives details of murder

Pune: MLA Yogesh Tilekar’s maternal uncle was beaten with a wooden staff and later strangled to death. The victim, Satish Wagh, was kidnapped from Manjari-Fursungi Road at 6 am on Monday (December 9). Later, his body was found in Shindawane Ghat in the evening.

DCP R Raja said, “It is seen that Satish Wagh was brought to Shindawane Ghat after he was kidnapped. He was beaten up with a wooden staff. Then he was murdered by strangling. Commuters passing through the Ghat spotted his body. They reported the matter to the Uruli Kanchan Police. The Pune Police were alerted at 6 pm. We have not yet got the post-mortem report of Satish Wagh. The exact reason behind the murder is not known. The police are investigating from various angles.”

The victim’s son, Omkar Satish Wagh (27) lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station. Satish Wagh owned Hotel Blueberry on Manjari-Fursungi Road, which has been leased out. He owned some shops on Solapur Road, which have also been leased out. Satish Wagh was a farmer.

Satish Wagh was kidnapped in a Chevrolet Enjoy car, which was spotted in some CCTV footage at some places. But its number plate was not visible. Therefore, the Pune Police found out details of 50 Chevrolet Enjoy car owners in the city. However, the car used in the kidnapping could not be traced.”
