Pune: The number of electric buses (e-buses) is being increased in the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) as compared to diesel-run buses. Currently, 43 Shivneri and 27 Shivai buses run from the Pune division. The number of Lalpari buses has reduced.

Therefore, the total number of buses has also reduced. Hence, new e-buses have been demanded by the Pune division. As many as 134 e-buses will be added to the Pune division’s fleet in the next two months, said the MSRTC administration.

Pramod Nehul, Division Controller, Pune Division, said, “We are getting good response to the e-bus service on the Solapur, Kolhapur, Nashik and Chh. Samabhaji Nagar routes. The Pune division will soon get 134 new e-buses.”

The corporation is focusing on reducing pollution caused by diesel-run Lalpari buses and wants to increase the number of e-buses. The number of daily passengers has increased after the State Government announced concessions for various groups of people such as women and senior citizens. Passengers are responding well to e-buses. From Pune, e-buses are running on Solapur, Kolhapur, Nashik and Chh. Sambhaji Nagar routes. The number of e-buses will be increased on these routes. Thus, the new buses will not only benefit the corporation but also provide relief for passengers.
