Mumbai-Pune Expressway inundated (Video)

Pune: The Mumbai-Pune Expressway was flooded on Sunday due to the downpour in the Ghat section in Lonavala and Khandala for the past two days.

A heavy water current was witnessed under Amrutanjan Bridge, particularly in the lane from Pune to Mumbai downwards. Around one foot of water was flowing on the expressway, which slowed down traffic movement.

Some vehicles broke down on the steep gradient, which led to snarls. Queues could be seen in both lanes. Such incident never happened before at this place. The reason behind such flooding is being studied.

Heavy rainfall at the hilltop

Heavy rainfall is being witnessed in the hilly area of Lonavala. A rainfall of 216 mm was recorded on Saturday while 140-mm was reported on Sunday.
