NCP factions to battle it out in eight seats out of 21 in Pune district
Pune: Two factions the NCP (SP) and the NCP (AP) are contesting in eight out of 21 State Legislative Assembly constituencies in the district. There will be a direct fight between these two parties in these segments. The NCP (SP) is trying out all tricks to break the dominance of the rival camp.
The NCP (AP) led by Ajit Pawar joined the Maha Yuti after a vertical split in the party last year. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar won eight out of 10 seats. Later, many MLAs from the Ajit Pawar faction wanted to go back to the NCP (SP).
Many of them met Sharad Pawar and expressed their willingness to contest from his party. However, the Pawar told them that his party’s doors were closed for them. Therefore, many MLAs feared Sharad Pawar’s moves.
