NCP Pune City President Deepak Mankar Withdraws Resignation Demand After Meeting with Ajit Pawar

Pune:
After initially announcing his intent to resign due to being overlooked for the governor-nominated MLC post, NCP Pune city president Deepak Mankar has now reversed his decision. This change came after a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, during which Pawar assured Mankar of his support. Following this assurance, Mankar has withdrawn his resignation from the party’s city president position.
Two days ago, the announcement of seven out of twelve governor-nominated MLC posts was made, with Pankaj Bhujbal and Idris Naikwadi being selected from the NCP. Additionally, Rupali Chakankar, the woman leader of the NCP, was reappointed as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. This decision upset Mankar and his supporters, who felt he had been unfairly overlooked. In response, Mankar and several city office bearers expressed their desire to resign in protest.
However, after his discussion with Ajit Pawar, Mankar decided to retract his resignation demand. “Ajit Pawar has assured me of his support and promised to ensure justice for me in the future,” said Mankar. He stated that he would not be resigning and, instead, plans to redouble his efforts in strengthening the party. Mankar further said that he will soon hold a meeting of the city office bearers for planning the assembly elections in the city.
