Pune:

A few days ago, the former minister and four-time MLA from Indapur, Harshavardhan Patil, entered into the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar). At that time, the party declared his candidacy from the Indapur assembly constituency. However, after that, the local cadre of the NCP (SP) party got disturbed, and now they have appealed to the party high command to reconsider its decision.

Yesterday, the upset leaders from Indapur, including the director of Sonai Udyog Group Praveen Mane, the former chairman of Pune Zilla Parishad Dashrath Mane, the director of Zilla Bank Appasaheb Jagdale, and the vice president of Indapur Bharat Shah, took ‘Parivartan Melawa’ in Indapur. At that time, they threatened to contest the election independently if the party does not reconsider its decision of giving candidature to Patil.

While speaking at this Melawa, the leaders remarked, “Party activists in Indapur have tirelessly worked day and night to strengthen the party organisation. Even after the split in the party, we chose to remain with Sharad Pawar.”

They further pointed out the out the consistent switches of Harshavardhan Patil and stated how giving candidacy to Patil would be an injustice to loyal party leaders. They said, “Dynasty politics has been imposed on Indapur taluka since 1952. Harshvardhan Patil rebelled in 1995. He then joined the coalition government. After that, he also became a minister in the Congress government. Later he joined the BJP, and now he has come to the party.”

The disgruntled group further questioned, “On what grounds was the candidacy of Patil, who has been defeated twice in a row from Indapur, announced?”

The group requested the party leadership to reconsider its decision. They said, “The sentiments of the citizens of Indapur Constituency should be taken into consideration. We had met Sharad Pawar with two thousand workers. We asked them to nominate any of us but not to import candidates. If Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule love Indapur taluka, they will have to change their decision.”

At that time, the disgruntled leaders also warned that if their demands were not met, the rebellion in Indapur would not be affordable and it would be the biggest rebellion in the state.
