New terminal at Pune airport is boosting flight operations

Pune: The number of flight operations have increased after the new terminal at the Pune airport has gone operational. This will also increase the number of passengers from the airport. Connectivity to other domestic destinations has improved. Air travel has become easier for the Puneites under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme. There will be further improvement in New Year.

Flight operations began from the new terminal five months ago. Initially, only two airlines were allowed to operate from the new terminal. Later, the number of flights were increased in a phased manner. Daily flight operations have reached 190. The number goes further up at the weekend.

Currently, 30,000 passengers travel from the airport daily. Their travel has become comfortable due to ultra-modern facilities provided at the new terminal. Moreover, the Pune Airport Administration has connected the city with more states and cities under the UDAN plan. Thus, flights for 12 more destinations are now available from the airport. This has benefited travellers and has made their journey easy.

Benefits under the UDAN plan

The Pune airport has been connected to 12 more domestic airports through flight operations. Additionally, the number of flights to Ahmedabad, Chennai and Bhopal have been added. Flights are now available to Sindhudurg, Nanded, Jalgaon, Kishangarh, Bhavnagar and Prayagraj.
