North American Film Association bestows Lifetime Achievement Award upon senior actor Dilip Prabhavalkar
Pune: The North American Film Association (NAFA) organised a Marathi Film Festival in the USA. It was conceptualised by Film Producer Abhijit Gholap and many leading Marathi actors and actresses landed in the USA.
Senior actor Dilip Prabhavalkar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival. Dr Jabbar Patel guided the organisers in holding the film festival. Supriya and Sachin Pilgaonkar interacted with film buffs. Dilip Prabhavalkar, Dr Saleel Kulkarni and Director Umesh Kulkarni held master classes. Nivedita Saraf, Ashwini Bhave, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mrunal Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave, Prasad Oak, Medha Manjrekar and others were present. They narrated their contribution to the filmdom before the spectators.
The special feature of the festival was the bestowing of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 upon Dilip Prabhavalkar by NAFA and Abhijit Gholap. Senior Director Jabbar Patel presented the award to Prabhavalkar, who played memorable roles in Chimanrao Gundyabhau, Chowkat Raja, Albatya Galbatya, Faster Fene, Deool, Bokya Satbande, etc.
National Award-winning Marathi film ‘Deool’ Producer and Entrepreneur Abhijit Gholap had the dream to popularise the Marathi film in the USA among expatriate Maharashtrians. He began with shooting Marathi films in America. Two short films ‘Pairav’ and ‘Nirmalya’ were first screened in the festival.
