Thane: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar has commented on the Pahalgam incident. He said, “What happened in Pahalgam was an attack on the country. Religion, caste, language were not important in the attack. All countrymen should unite at this hour. We support the action taken by the Prime Minister and his colleagues. This is our stand. The demand to call a special session of Parliament is justified. Because the entire country is united on the issue. It will be helpful if a special session is held to show that no party has a different stance other than that of the government.”

Pawar conducted a worship at the replica of the Tulja Bhavai temple, Tuljapur in Thane, which has been built by NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad. Pawar and wife Pratibha Pawar took part in the puja on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. Pawar was asked to comment on the Pahalgam incident.

Terrorists killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam on April 22. Many others were seriously wounded in the attack. Outrage was witnessed across the country. The entire world condemned the incident. A high-level meeting was held in Delhi under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi. It was learnt that the Prime Minister gave full freedom to the Army to reply to the attack. Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and demanded a special session of Parliament. Reacting to this, Pawar also supported the demand.

When asked if Raj and Uddhav Thackeray would come together, Pawar said that it was a welcome development if two families unite. However, he refused to comment any further on politics.
