Pimpri: 15-year-old boy, addicted to mobile phone game, jumps to death from 14th floor in Kiwale

Pimpri: A 15-year-old boy reportedly ended his life due to addiction to mobile gaming. He died by suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of a building in a tony society in Kiwale.
The victim’s father works abroad while his mother is a housewife. He was a brilliant Std IX student. However, he got addicted to an online game. He was playing it on a laptop. When his father returned home, he again started mingling with others. He again got addicted when his father went abroad. He used to enclose himself in his room and would talk loudly to himself.
Schools were closed following heavy rains on July 25. He spent the entire day gaming. He got out for dinner after a lot of cajoling. But he again went to his room. His mother was worried because he had a fever, which did not recede till 1 am. His mother was awake when she got a message on the society’s WhatsApp group that a boy fell down and was injured. His mother read the message and rushed to his room but did not find him there. She rushed to the spot and found that it was him. She rushed him to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The police were investigating the exact reason behind his death. His father returned to the city after the incident.
Sr PI Mahendra Kadam said, “The incident took place in Kiwale. It is said that the boy was lonely. We are investigating the exact reason behind the death.”
