Pimpri: Bigwig from Chinchwad on his way to NCP (SP)

Pimpri: The number of leaders willing to join the NCP (SP) has increased after the Lok Sabha polls. Those who do not expect to get the candidature from the Maha Yuti are crossing over to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

BJP leader Samarjitsinh joined the NCP (SP) on Tuesday (September 3) while BJP State Minister Harshvardhan Patil is weighing his options and may decide soon.

Now, a bigwig from the Chinchwad Assembly constituency is on his way to the NCP (SP). DyCM Ajit Pawar’s staunch supporter Nana Kate is likely to join the rival camp soon. It is said that Kate held a meeting with Jayant Patil recently.

Sitting BJP MLA from Chinchwad Ashwini Jagtap is most likely to be fielded from the Maha Yuti. Hence, other aspirants may join the opposition camp. Kate insisted that he would contest the poll under any circumstances. The Maha Yuti is most likely to name Jagtap while the MVA is likely to allot the seat to the NCP (SP). Political circles are abuzz with the talk.

Kate’s statement assumes significance if the BJP decides to field its candidate. Big developments are possible in the segment in the near future. It will be interesting to see what stand Sharad Pawar takes.
