Pimpri: Nana Kate determined to contest from Chinchwad segment

Pune / Pimpri : NCP (AP) President and DyCM Ajit Pawar met his party leader Nana Kate to stem the rebellion in the Chinchwad Assembly constituency. They met for over an hour.

However, Kate said that he would contest the poll from Chinchwad. He has filed his nomination as an independent.

It was said that a direct contest between BJP’s Shankar Jagtap and NCP (SP) candidate Rahul Kalate would be interesting here. However, if Nana Kate does not withdraw, it would hit Jagtap’s prospects.

Kate addressed the media after his meeting with Pawar. He said, “We did not discuss much. We exchanged Diwali greetings. He called me up saying that he would be travelling to Baramati and would like to meet me. Hence, he visited me.

“We discussed the political scenario and conditions in the election. We did not discuss the withdrawal of nomination. Therefore, I am determined to fight. The Maha Yuti candidate is from Chinchwad. Perhaps, that is why he visited Chinchwad. He may have met me because I belong to his party. But there was no word on my nomination withdrawal.”
