Police and Election Officials Seize Car Carrying Gold Jewellery Worth 23.71 Crore on Supa Toll Plaza on Pune-Nagar Road
Pune:
In the wake of the upcoming assembly elections, there are instructions for strict adherence to the election code of conduct to ensure that the elections are conducted in a clean, transparent, and fearless environment by effectively implementing the code of conduct. Accordingly, vehicles are rigorously being checked on the highways at various places.
In a similar such inspection on Pune-Nagar Road, the police yesterday seized a four-wheeler car, carrying jewellery worth crores of rupees on Supa Toll Plaza. Initially, the people inside the car told the value of the jewellery was about 4 crore rupees. However, after actually weighing the jewellery, the jewellery was found worth 23 crore 71 lakh rupees.
This jewellery belongs to a jeweller from Sambhaji Nagar. While patrolling yesterday on the Pune-Nagar Road, the Election Commission Officers, Inspection Team, and Supa Police collectively conducted this action and seized the car. The people inside the ca informed that they were going from Pune to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar via Ahilyanagar.
There were three people in this car. Initially, it was said that there was gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 4 crore 97 lakh in the car from the bill near them. After that, the election officer, police inspector of Supa Police Station, Arun Awhad, and income tax officer conducted panchanama of this jewellery. In this, they found extra bills and gold in the car.
This led to measurements being taken under the supervision of senior officers of the Police, Income Tax, and Election Departments. In the renewed measurements, police found additional gold ornaments, gold biscuits, silver bricks, and diamonds inside the car. As the big difference was found between the reported bills and the actual price of the jewellery, the police have started a detailed investigation into the case. It is said that with this, the problems before the jeweller can rise significantly.
