Pune: 105 construction sites told to stop work for not taking measures to reduce dust pollution
Pune: Dust is produced in a large amount at construction sites in the city. Builders not taking measures to reduce dust pollution have been issued notices. Those not complying with the notice were told to stop work.
On the first day, 91 constructions were stopped while 14 others were told to halt work on the second day on Friday. Thus, 105 sites had to stop work for not taking steps to reduce air pollution.
A large number of constructions are underway in the city, which are causing dust pollution. Therefore, the civic body has instructed builders and architects to take measures to reduce pollution. They were told to adhere to the norms issued by the MPCB. However, they ignored it.
Later, civic engineers from the Building Department surveyed constructions and issued notices to those who did not take measures to stop dust pollution.
The notice directed the builders concerned to immediately stop work under section 267 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act and under section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and City Planning Act 1966. The notice stated that the erring builders would face police action under powers given to the civic body.
Action slowed down on second day
