Pune: 31,000 more voters in State poll than Lok Sabha election in Khadakwasla
Pune: The Khadakwasla State Assembly constituency has 5,69,222 voters. The number is 31,191 more than the Lok Sabha election. Of the total, 3,00,370 are male, 2,68,811 are female while 41 are transgender voters.
The election machinery is ready in the segment. Polling will take place at 507 voting centres, for which 2,800 officials and personnel have been appointed. The election office for the segment is located on the Sinhagad Technical College campus, Ambegaon Budruk.
These details were revealed in a press conference. Assistant Returning Officer and Tehsildar Kiran Surawase, BDO Bhushan Joshi, nodal officers of various cells in the constituency were present.
All poll-related work such as sale, filing and withdrawal of nominations, EVM exchange will take place on the college campus. However, counting of votes will happen at the government godowns in Koregaon Park on November 23.
No sensitive voting centre
The highest number of voting centres (507) are located in the Khadakwasla constituency. None of the centres is declared sensitive. The rural and city police will be deployed across the segment. Nodal officers have been appointed to monitor adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
Banners and posters revealing names, photos of people’s representatives, parties and their office-bearers are being covered. Out of the 507 voting centres, 505 are regular while two are assistant centres. Around 1,500 voters will cast their vote at each centre. Voting centres having more than 1,500 voters will get two assistant centres.
Training of the poll staff will take place on the Sinhagad College campus on October 26 and 27. New eight voting centres will be set up in housing societies in urban areas. According to the instructions of the ECI, all voting centres should be located on the ground floor. Therefore, mandaps have been set up at many places to protect voters from the elements.
