Pune: 700–800 Illegal Pistols Manufactured in Umarati Sold to Pune Gangs; Same Weapons Used in Sharad Mohol & Vanraj Andekar Murders (Video)

Pune: Over the last 6–7 years, local gunsmiths in Umarati village, Madhya Pradesh, manufactured around 700 to 800 country-made pistols, many of which were illegally supplied to gangs in Pune.

It has now emerged that the pistols used in the murders of Sharad Mohol and ex-corporator Vanraj Andekar were also sourced from this village.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that criminals previously booked for illegal firearms possession will now be re-investigated.

During the raid, police seized pistols, magazines, spare weapon parts, and related equipment.
Those arrested include: Sunnybhai Chawla (37), Jasbirsingh Prakashsingh Chawla (22), Praveensingh Uttamsingh Takarana (22), Rajpalsingh Pradhansingh Junedja (36), Aloksingh Joharsingh Banarla (27), Nanaksingh Ajitsingh Banarla (32), Gurucharan Singh Banarla (23).

The operation involved over 100 officers, led by DCP Somay Munde, backed by drones, wireless systems, gas guns, and the Quick Response Team. Investigation shows the weapons were sold through intermediaries and contacts via social media.
