Pune: Accused Dattatraya Gade’s DNA test completed, hair samples taken; report will be submitted soon

Pune: The accused in the Swargate bus stand rape case, Dattatraya Gade, was arrested and sent to police custody till March 12. His DNA test was conducted and hair strands found in the bus were collected. The DNA report will be submitted soon.
The police will soon get the DNA test report. His hair strands were found in the bus, which were seized by the police and submitted for the DNA test. The police may get concrete evidence against the accused.
The 26-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at the Swargate ST bus stand on February 25. The Shivshahi bus, in which the incident took place, was examined by the Forensic Department. During the examination, strands of hair were found. It is said that the hair strand matched with the DNA sampling of accused Dattatraya Gade.
She lay there as if she was dead
The accused told the victim that he was the conductor of the bus she wanted to travel in. After she entered the bus, he closed both doors of the bus. Then the victim asked him to allow her to get down as there was no one in the bus. The accused pushed her on a seat. The victim cried for help but the accused strangled her. She was trying to get rid from his clutches. Then she pretended to be dead.
The accused’s bank account has Rs 249 for the past one month
The accused’s lawyer told the court that the incident took place with mutual consent. He also said that Gade gave her some money. However, the accused had only Rs 249 in his account for the past one month. It is doubted whether he had the capacity to give her money.
