Pune: Accused in Swargate bus stand rape case, Dattatraya Gade, nabbed (Video)

Pune: The Pune Police arrested Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, the accused in the Swargate bus stand rape case, from his native village at midnight on Thursday.
The police spotted him at 1.30 am on Canal Road at Gunat. He was immediately brought to Pune and was lodged in police custody at the Lashkar Police Station.
Gade escaped to his native after the incident, in which he sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman in a broken-down Shivshahi bus on the premises of the Swargate bus stand. He was hiding in his house throughout the day. Later, he attended a religious programme. After the news about his heinous deed started beaming on TV channels, he left the house and was absconding.
He was hiding the entire day. He went to a house in the village to drink water. A woman saw him and alerted the police. On Thursday, around 150 policemen arrived at Gunat. They searched for him in sugarcane fields. A drone was also used for the purpose. However, he could not be traced till the evening. The search operation was then halted.
But the police camped in the village. They suspected that he might come out of his hideout at night. Thus, he was spotted on Canal Road by the Crime Branch squad. He was immediately nabbed and brought to the city. He would be produced before the court.
