Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has confirmed that he will contest from the Baramati Assembly constituency, dismissing recent speculations about Jai Pawar’s candidacy. The rumors began after Ajit Pawar made a statement that was widely discussed across the state, suggesting he might not be interested in contesting from Baramati. He mentioned that Jai Pawar’s candidacy could be considered if there was enough demand from his supporters.

However, when journalists pressed for more details, Ajit Pawar expressed his displeasure at the media for fueling the speculation. “I am the national president of a party. I am not obliged to give a byte at every place. You asked a question, and I simply mentioned that anyone has the right to contest an election. But what did you do?” Ajit Pawar remarked, clearly frustrated with the ongoing discussions.

When asked about the NCP meeting held in Pune yesterday, Ajit Pawar refrained from providing specifics, stating, “There is no need to tell you every time what happened in the meeting. You will discuss anything. Am I bound to answer those discussions?”

Ajit Pawar’s initial statement had sparked curiosity when he said, “I have also contested from Baramati seven to eight times. So now I am not very interested in contesting from there. If the people are inclined to nominate Jai Pawar, then the parliamentary board of the party will also consider it.” However, his latest comments suggest that he will continue to represent Baramati, putting an end to the speculations.
