Pune: The Ladki Bahin Yojana is being talked about across the State. Women are flocking to Setu offices to file applications to avail its benefit. Each beneficiary will get Rs 1,500 per month through the scheme. Minister Ajit Pawar announced the scheme in the State Budget. Opposition leaders are criticising the rulers over the scheme.

Now, NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar has taken a potshot at Ajit Pawar over the Ladki Bahin Yojana during a press meet in the city. He said, “We heard about Ladki Bahin, Ladka Bhau schemes in the State Budget. Ajit Pawar has been the State Finance Minister for so many years but he never remembered Bahin (sister) all these years.

“This is the result of the Lok Sabha elections. I am worried about the financial condition of the State. It appears to be fragile at the moment. Debts are mounting.”

Commenting on State Minister Chhagan Bhujbal’s visit, Sharad Pawar said, “Chhagan Bhujabal made a couple of good speeches recently. He spoke with me about a couple of topics. The Chief Minister called the meeting. I have seen the Chief Minister and Jarange Patil together on stage. There was some dialogue. Some ministers visited the venue of the OBC agitation. What was decided at both these places? What was promised to both the communities? Unless they reveal their details to us, there is no point in attending any meeting.

“Chhagan Bhujbal said let bygones be bygones. A solution has to be found. He suggested that I should take initiative to establish peace.”
