Pune: Ajit Pawar’s comment on women tying Rakhis around his wrist causes laughter
Pune: Deputy Chief Minister and NCP (AP) President Ajit Pawar is touring the State as a part of his party’s Jan Sanman Yatra. Meanwhile, the government launched the Ladki Bahin Yojana, which Pawar announced in the State Budget. Women are getting money in their bank accounts.
As Pawar’s Yatra passes through towns, cities and villages, women are welcoming him and tying Rakhis around his wrist. As the Yatra arrived in Junnar in the district, a woman asked a question to Pawar, which created laughter.
Pawar said, “Women tie Rakhis around my wrist. These women pull my hand. Even my wife never pulled it so many times. They are all my sisters, mothers. They are happy. We are enthused because so many women come to meet me. They tie Rakhis. I ask them whether they have got the money under the Ladki Bahin Yojana. They reply in affirmative. Their faces brighten. Some of them said that they did not get money. But money will definitely be deposited in their account. We keep our promises.”
‘We will not cheat women’
The first instalment of Ladki Bahin Yojana will be deposited in their account before Raksha Bandhan. We will not terminate the scheme. The Maha Yuti government will keep its word. They will decide whether to continue with the scheme. If they vote for the lotus, bow & arrow and clock symbols, it will continue. Around 2.5 crore women will benefit under the scheme. Women are responding overwhelmingly to it. But the opposition parties are spreading lies. We will not cheat women. Unprecedented crowds of women are gathering for public meetings. They should trust us the way they trust their brothers.”
