Traffic Issues In Susgaon

Pune: Potholes and narrow roads have hit traffic management in Susgaon. Long queues of vehicles can be seen from Tapkir Vasti, Susgaon to Sunny’s World.

Vehicles coming from Pashan and going towards Paud, Hinjawadi and Mulshi go through Susgaon. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction also take this route. Since the road is narrow, traffic jams are frequent in the locality.

IT company employees from Hinjawadi and students from Dhruv English School, Vidya Valley and Symbiosis Hospital use the road.

In the absence of wide roads, congestion is witnessed every day at the crematorium, Shivba Chowk, Sunny’s World. Commuters face woes due to wastage of time and energy. An alternative route is needed to solve traffic issues.

Though Pashan-Sus road is wide, traffic coming from Tapkir Vasti, Nanavare Bridge, Pashan and traffic from the highway service road enter Susgaon simultaneously and cause congestion. Many commuters break rules to get out of jams and cause more issues and accidents.

Traffic Police personnel are deployed on the road. However, the number of vehicles is so high that the road cannot carry them all. In such a situation, if an ambulance gets stuck in traffic, it can lead to a serious episode. Local residents demanded urgent measures by the administration to solve traffic issues in the area.

A local resident said, “If the proposed roads in the PMRDA draft plan are built, commuters will be relieved.”

PSI Prasad Gokule from Hinjawadi Traffic Division said, “Sus road has developed potholes due to rains. Encroachments and the narrow road is a big problem. We have conveyed this to the departments concerned. The issue was discussed in a meeting with the Guardian Minister. We are trying to streamline traffic.”
