Pune: Before Arrest, Gade Admits Crime to Villagers, Asks Them to Care for His Son

After three days of the brutal rape of a 26-year-old woman in Swargate ST Bus Stand, the Pune Police successfully arrested the accused, Dattatray Gade, from his Gunat village of Shirur at midnight with the help of a dog squad team, CCTV footage, and drone cameras. Meanwhile, local residents and villagers of Gunat village informed that when police detained the accused, Gade apologised to villagers for the incident and admitted his mistake. Further, he requested the villagers to take care of his son.
Local villagers informed regarding this. They were talking with TV 9 Marathi news channel. Meanwhile, one of the villagers informed, “Before arresting Gade, the police initially investigated me and enquired about Gade’s whereabouts.” The second villager informed that when Ganesh Gavane listened to Gade’s voice in the night, police detained the accused. He told that Gade himself came ahead.
The Police Patil of Gunat village said, “As instructed by my superiors, I called Dattatray Gade. As per the orders of Jadhav Saheb of Shirur, I called him again. After four to five minutes later, we learnt that he had been caught. Accordingly, we came here. By then, the Swargate police had taken him into custody.”
The Police Patil further said that Gade wanted to talk to him about something. But then later he requested villagers to take care of his son. Gade also admitted to villagers that he made the mistake.
Before Gade’s arrest, the police had been relentlessly searching for him for the past three days. The police deployed heavy police force along with CCTV cameras and drones in search of Gade. Further, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, and Senior Police Officials Nikhil Pingle and Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale were also present at Gunat village.
Villagers informed that Gade’s financial condition is normal, and he has a wife and an eight-year-old son. His parents work in the fields. He has a brother. The villagers said that Gade’s wife is a sportsperson and was preparing to get into the police a few years ago. Gade has a case of theft and other crimes registered against him at the police station.
