Pune: ‘Bhai’ and ‘Don’ clash in Dapodi, cops put both behind bars

Pune: Two goons identifying themselves as ‘Bhai’ and ‘Don’ had a verbal duel, which eventually led to fisticuffs. But their clash caused terror in Dapodi. The police put the duo and their accomplice behind bars.

Salman Akbar Shaikh (26), resident of Dapodi, lodged a complaint at the Dapodi Police Station. Sanjay Raju Patare (24), a resident of Dapodi, was arrested. The incident took place in front of Triratna Lawns in Dapodi at 1.30 am on April 10.

According to the police, the complainant is a mechanic. He was returning home after work when he came across his acquaintance Sanjay Patare, who beat up and injured him due to an old enmity. Patare waved a koyta (sickle) in the air and threatened others, who came to Salman’s rescue. Patare said, “I am Dapodi’s Don. I warn if anyone tries to intervene. I am Don and Don never bends, he makes others bend before him.”

PSI Deshmukh was investigating further.

Sanjay Patare lodged a counter-complaint. The police booked Salman Shaikh and his accomplice Satyam Ganesh Jadhav (20), resident of Dapodi and arrested them.

Patare is a daily wager. He was returning home after work when their acquaintance Salman and his friend Satyam beat him up. They threatened to kill him. Salman waved a koyta in the air and said, “I warn if anyone intervenes. I am Dapodi’s ‘Bhai’. I will punish those who provoke me.”

PSI Kale was investigating the matter.
