Pune: Big relief for commuters: ‘No Parking’ zone from Kadam Plaza to Green Park building in Dhankawadi

Pune: The traffic Police, who were favouring businesses and allowing parking on the narrow service road in front of Kadam Plaza opposite Bharati Vidyapeeth for many years causing hardships to commuters, have suddenly woken up to the issue. They have decided to make the service road a No Parking zone to end congestion in the area.
The move has provided a big relief to thousands of commuters, who use the service road to go to Bibwewadi via Lake Town. The service road is adjacent to the subway in front of Bharati Vidyapeeth, which is convenient mainly for two-wheelers and light vehicles. It is an alternative route for 1.5 lakh residents from Sukhsagar Nagar, Upper Indira Nagar and Bibwewadi.
However, due to commercial establishments along the service road, particularly Pizza Hut, vehicles are parked on both sides of the 4-m wide and 176 m long road. This leads to congestion frequently.
Many times ambulances get stuck in snarls in the area causing distress to patients. The Bharati Hospital administration deploys a guard at the subway but it does not help at peak hours.
In this backdrop, the Traffic Police declared the service road a No Parking zone from Kadam Plaza to Green Park building. They have appealed to citizens to write to them if commuters have any objections.
