Pune: BMW, Mercedes, 1.75 kg Gold; Assets Worth 271 Crore; Surendra Pathare Emerges as Pune’s Richest Candidate
Pune: In the Pune Municipal elections, Ward No. 4 candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Surendra Pathare, has emerged as the wealthiest contender in the city. According to his election affidavit, his family’s total assets amount to ₹271.85 crore.
The affidavit reveals that immovable assets form the bulk of the family’s wealth, valued at over ₹217.93 crore, including land parcels, commercial buildings, and residential properties. It also discloses liabilities exceeding ₹46.59 crore to public financial institutions and others. The asset list further includes luxury vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes, and an Innova Crysta.
A highly educated professional, Surendra Pathare is an engineering gold medalist from the COEP. After completing his education, he built a successful business career and is now contesting a municipal election for the first time. Notably, his wife Aishwarya Pathare is also contesting from Ward No. 3 on a BJP ticket.
Surendra Pathare is the son of Bapu Pathare, an MLA from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar). Political circles have credited Surendra Pathare’s strategic campaign management for Bapu Pathare’s recent electoral success. Following his entry into the BJP, the party’s Pune unit under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis is said to have grown stronger.
With these disclosures, Surendra Pathare once again stands at the center of political discussion as Pune’s richest municipal election candidate.
