Pune Businessman Brutally Murdered by Group of Five People in Karwar; Wife Seriously Injured

A syndicate of five people blatantly entered the house of a Pune-based businessman at Hankon in Karwar taluka and killed him by attacking with sharp weapons. In this, the wife of the deceased businessman has also been seriously injured.
The murdered businessman and his wife have been identified as Vinayak Kashinath Naik (age 52) and Vrushali Vinayak Naik, respectively. Police informed that Vinayak Naik is a big businessman from Pune, and he has a large business of electrical and electronics goods.
Vinayak and his wife had gone to their native village Hankon in Karwar taluka for the festival of Sateri Devi. The festival was held between September 10 and 16. After that, Vinayak further remained in the village to perform the last rituals of his mother.
But, on Sunday, they were coming to Pune. For this, they wake up early on Sunday morning. But at that time, five unknown people came in a car at his house around dawn and knocked on Vinayak’s house’s door. However, when Vinayak opened the door, the five accused suddenly unleashed a heavy attack on him, stabbing him with a knife, machete, and iron rod.
In this assault, Vinayak lost his life on the spot. At this time, when Vinayak’s wife Vrushali tried to resist the assailants, the assailants also attacked her. In this attack, she also received heavy injuries.
On getting information about this incident, Karwar police rushed to the spot. Superintendent of Police K. Narayan visited the spot and gave instructions regarding the investigation. The reason behind the attack on Vinayak Naik is yet to be known. In this regard, a case of murder has been registered at Sadashivgad Police Station, and an inquiry team has been formed under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Girish. Police are investigating further.
