Pune: Caretaker injures old dog, sets it afire after owner brings new dog in Mundhwa
Pune: A caretaker abandoned an old dog when his employer brought a new dog. But the old dog continued to return to his master’s house. The caretaker continued to drive it away, which caused distress to the canine, it bit the caretaker’s parents. This enraged caretaker beat up the poor animal with bamboo and injured it seriously. Later, he dumped the dog in a ditch and set it ablaze.
Biru Dolare (40), a resident of Mundhwa, has been booked for tormenting the dog. Padmini Peter Stump (66), an animal activist of the Mission Possible foundation and a resident of Bhavani Peth, lodged a complaint at the Mundhwa Police Station.
The incident took place at Zed Corner near RS Enterprises on October 5. According to the police, Biru Dolare was looking after the old dog. His employer got a new dog. The caretaker then drove away the old dog. But the dog kept coming back to its master. But Dolare still used to chase it away.
Once the dog bit Dolare’s parents. Then the caretaker lured the dog with biscuits and beat it up with bamboo and injured it seriously. Dolare tied its legs, dumped it in a ditch and set the dog ablaze.
After the dog was abandoned by the caretaker, some women in the area were feeding it. As the canine disappeared one day, they reported it to Padmini Stump, who searched for it and found its half-burnt carcass in the area.
