Pune: Case Against Young Man for Abusing and Creating Ruckus in Shaniwar Peth Police Chowki
The Shaniwar Peth police have booked a 22-year-old individual for abusing the police after he was asked to take a ‘drink and drive’ test and creating a ruckus in the police station.
The young man has been identified as Atharv Joshi, a resident of Narayan Peth. In this regard, Police Amaldar Thakur has lodged a police complaint at Vishrambaug Police Station.
This incident took place at 1 a.m. on January 1, in front of the Unique Citadel Society on Omkareshwar Road in Shaniwar Peth, on the small road leading to the RSS office, and at the Shaniwar Peth police chowki.
According to the information given by the police, the accused, Atharv Joshi, was riding a two-wheeler at high speed on the night of New Year. While speeding on his bike from Omkareshwar Road, he hit a young woman’s moped bike on that road and damaged it. Subsequently, the woman lodged a police complaint against Atharv at the Shaniwar Peth police station.
Notably, when the police brought Atharv Joshi to the Shaniwar Peth police station for interrogation and he was asked to take a drunk and drive test, he refused. Further, he abused the police and ran over them. Police informed that Atharv created a lot of ruckus in the police station and abused and threatened the plaintiff.
The police have registered a case against him, and Police Sub-Inspector Supriya Pandharkar is investigating the case further.
