Pune: Chandrakant Patil goes down memory lane on Teachers’ Day

Pune: State Minister Chandrakant Patil expressed gratitude towards teachers from municipal schools and kindled memories of his school days. He said, “I studied in a municipal school in Mumbai. Teachers in municipal schools work very hard to educate students. I am aware of this.”

Teachers from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)-run schools were felicitated by Patil on Teachers’ Day. He was speaking during the programme. Programme Organiser and former Corporator and former Shikshan Mandal (Education Committee) President Manjushree Khardekar, BJP, south Kothrud, President Dr Sandip Butala, former corporator Harshali Mathwad, Adv Mitali Savalekar, General Secretary Dinesh Mathwad, Kuldip Savalekar and Deepak Pawar and other dignitaries were present.

Patil said, “My sister and I completed our primary education in a municipal school in Mumbai. Whenever I remember those days, I remember my teachers. Because they used to carry out their noble responsibility of teaching without any facilities. Therefore, I am aware of municipal school teachers’ importance and their hard work.”

He added, “Every person has a high regard for their guru. Therefore, teachers are respected today. Municipal teachers make a lot of effort. I will try to provide facilities to these schools in the Kothrud Assembly constituency.”

Former Shikshan Mandal President Manjushree Khardekar said, “I congratulate all teachers and wish them all the best as the Education Committee is entering its 100th year.”

Kalyani Khardekar conducted the function. Former corporator Harshali Mathwad proposed a vote of thanks.
