Pune: City Unit BJP sets up emergency help centre and helpline for flood-affected citizens, 3,000 workers on field: Dheeraj Ghate
Pune: The offices of the city BJP, including those of MPs and MLAs, will be open 24X7 as relief centres for the next eight days to help the flood-affected people in the city, said BJP City Unit President Dheeraj Ghate.
Ghate appealed to citizens to contact the BJP’s city office on helpline number 9066515656 or 9928814646. An online meeting was held by the city BJP to take measures to bring the flood situation under control.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MP Medha Kulkarni, all BJP MLAs, former corporators, party office-bearers attended the meeting.
Ghate said, “As many as 3,000 BJP workers are on field across the city from early morning to bring the flood situation under control. Citizens stranded in the flood were rescued and shifted to safer places. First aid, accommodation, tea, breakfast were arranged as and where needed. The opposition is politicising the flood situation. But it is not the time for politics, we are focused on helping citizens.”
Murlidhar Mohol said, “I am in Delhi for the Parliament session. I am in touch with the District Collector and the Municipal Commissioner. The floods are the result of a heavy rainfall in Varasgaon, Panshet and Khadakwasla dam areas. A flood occurs after 40,000 cusecs water is released from the dam. The administration should have alerted citizens about this. Storm-water drains have not been cleaned properly. Our workers are cooperating with the administration.”
Chandrakant Patil said, “Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have instructed NDRF jawans to undertake rescue and relief work. Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar is reaching Pune and instructing the administration to bring the situation under control. I am taking stock of the situation and have instructed BJP workers to carry out relief work. People are being moved to safe places and medicines, food grains, tea, snacks, food, drinking water, clothes, tarpaulins, shelters are being provided to the affected. All decisions at the government level will be taken promptly and maximum assistance will be provided.”
