Pune civic budget presentation delayed
Pune: The Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the presentation of the Civic Budget 2025-26 after January 15 due to unavoidable reasons.
This means the ‘tradition’ of a delay in presenting the civic budget started by the preceding Administrator would continue. As per the General Body resolution of the PMC, the Municipal Commissioner is supposed to present the civic budget by January 15. Since the previous GB was dissolved three years ago, the Municipal Commissioner-cum-Administrator has been running the business of the GB. They have been sidelining the resolution and presenting the civic budget as they deem fit.
The then Administrator Vikram Kumar presented the civic budget in the past two years after January 15. He started the ‘tradition’.
The Civic Budget 2025-26 cannot be presented by January 15 due to unavoidable reasons. Therefore, the Municipal Commissioner requested the Standing Committee to approve a delayed civic budget. The approval has been granted. Hence, the Civic Budget 2025-26 will be presented in the first week of March.
