Pune: Co-operative Officer Arrested for Bribery in Baramati

Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Pune has apprehended Anilkumar Sambhaji Maharanvar, a 46-year-old co-operative officer from the Assistant Registrar’s office in Baramati, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe. The arrest took place on Friday, July 19, at the administrative building of the Assistant Registrar Co-operative Society in Baramati.

The incident unfolded when a 35-year-old complainant filed a report with the Pune ACB. The complainant had visited the Assistant Registrar’s office to submit a copy of a stay order issued by the Divisional Co-Registrar Co-operative Society Pune. During his visit, Maharanvar allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 to process his request.

Following the complaint, the Pune ACB initiated a verification process in this case. On Friday, during the operation, it was confirmed that Maharanvar had solicited a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the plaintiff. The officer was caught red-handed while accepting Rs. 4,500 of the demanded bribe from the complainant.

In this case, a complaint was registered against Anilkumar Maharanwar at Baramati City Police Station. This action was taken by the team of police inspector Pravin Nimbalkar, female police constable Komal Shete, police constable Taware, and driver category Police Sub Inspector Jadhav, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nitin Jadhav.
