Pune: College student held for carrying pistol; he buys it at cheap price, wanted to make profit by selling at higher rate

Pune: The Ambegaon Police detained a college student after they received a tip-off that he was carrying a pistol. When inquired how he procured it, he told the police that a student from the Sinhagad Institute sold it to him at a cheap price.

He said that he would sell it further at a higher price and earn profit. This has revealed a shocking fact that collegians have now started dealing in buying and selling arms.

The accused has been identified as Aryan Bapu Beldare (19), resident of Ambegaon. Under the guidance of Sr PI Sharad Zine, API Priyanka Gore and the investigation team was patrolling in the Datta Nagar area within the Ambegaon Police Station limits during a combing operation to curb crime in the city.

Policemen Dhanaji Dhotre and Nilesh Jamdade received a tip-off that a youth was carrying a pistol and was standing at a cow shed near Ai Shri Villa Apartment. The police team reached there to confirm the input. They detained Beldare and frisked him. He was carrying a pistol valued at Rs 40,100 and a live cartridge. He wanted to sell it.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, DCP Smartana Patil, and API Rahul Aware. The team taking action comprised Sr PI Sharad Zine, API Priyanka Gore, policemen Shailendra Sathe, Hanmant Masal, Nilesh Jamdade, Dhanaji Dhotre, Pramod Bhosale, Yogesh Jagdale and Vinayak Padale.
