Pune: Congress candidates from Kasba Peth, Shivajinagar and Cantonment seats to be announced on October 20
Pune: The Congress will publish its list of candidates in the State Assembly elections on October 20 (Sunday). The State Selection Board has sent its list to the Scrutiny Committee in Delhi. It will finally be approved by the Central Selection Board. Then it will be published on October 20.
The Congress has got the highest number of seats (110) in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Around 90 pc of candidates will be announced. The names of candidates from the Kasba Peth, Cantonment and Shivajinagar segments are included in the list, said a top party leader.
He said, “There are some differences over some names while some candidates wanted their seats to be exchanged. Discussions are going on about them. Therefore, a decision about these segments is pending.” However, he refused to reveal the names of the seats.
The Congress has demanded the Parvati seat from the NCP (SP) in Pune. Party leader Balasaheb Thorat himself indicated this in a function in the city. Political circles are abuzz with discussions on the topic. But the NCP (SP) has strongly opposed the demand.
