Pune: Cops to use AI tech to crack Bopdev Ghat gang rape case

Pune: The police will use the Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to crack the gang rape of a collegian in Bopdev Ghat. Rs 10-lakh award has been announced for information leading to the arrest of the suspects in the case.
The police are collecting data of 3,000 mobile phone users in the gang rape case. They are conducting a technical analysis of the 3,000 mobile users, who passed through Bopdev Ghat in the past 15 days. Their names, addresses are being checked for any leads. It is suspected that the accused escaped towards Saswad via the Ghat. CCTV footage from the Ghat to Saswad, around 70-80 km, is being collected. Over 200 history-sheeters are being interrogated. This was revealed by Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma.
Rs 10 lakh cash reward will be given to those providing details about the suspects. The names of information providers will be kept secret. Jt CP Sharma has appealed to people to contact the police if they have any details about the suspects.
Data on history-sheeters from Satara and Solapur is also being gathered. The collected data will be analysed with the help of AI technology.
The college girl and her boyfriend were beaten up at midnight on Thursday (October 3) at the table land in Bopdev Ghat. The suspects raped the young woman. A bamboo used for beating the duo and blood has been found at the spot, which has been seized by the police. The samples have been sent to the forensic lab for testing.
