Pune:

Recently, a disturbing incident had taken place in Bihar where some anti-social individuals burnt houses of Dalit people. Shockingly, a similar incident has taken place in Pune’s Ramwadi area, where few people attempted to demolish houses, cowsheds, and trees of people belonging to the Dalit community.

In this regard, a 39-year-old individual lodged a complaint at Yerawada Police Station. Accordingly, the police have registered a case against Maruti Muralidhar Devkar, Datta Devkar, Hashi Devkar, Bobby Rathod, Monto, and 10 to 15 male and female bouncers (all residents of Viman Nagar) under various sections, including the Atrocity Act.

This startling incident took place at Jai Maharashtra Dalit Mitra Mandal in Ramwadi on September 24 at 5:30 p.m.

As per the information given by police, the plaintiff and the accused know each other. The plaintiff has an old house and cowshed in an open space in front of his residing house. A few days ago, the accused were forcefully erecting a metal shed on the road leading to the plaintiff’s old house and cowshed.

When the plaintiff objected to the accused for this, the accused, Maruti Devkar, vituperated him by making derogatory castiest remarks. He said, “You are the people living outside the villages. Are you equating with us?”. Further, the other accused, Balu Mane, Ashok Salve, and Tanaji Kendale, felled the house, the cowshed, and the acacia and banyan trees near the cowsheds of the accused with the help of the JCB.

At that time, the lady bouncers brought there as well as other people assaulted the plaintiff and his relatives with hands and sticks. Further, they molested the plaintiff’s mother by speaking obscenely with her.

Police have registered a case of atrocity against all the accused in this case, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sonawane is investigating further.
