Pune: A team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has landed in the city to thoroughly investigate the cheating case against controversial former probationary IAS officer Dr Puja Khedkar.

It was learnt that the team inquired with the hospitals, where she was issued the disability certificates and residents of the housing societies, where she purportedly stayed. However, it could not be confirmed officially. Earlier, the Delhi Police registered a cheating case against Khedkar on the basis of a complaint lodged by the UPSC.

The Department Personnel & Training issued her a notice after it was revealed that she took the civil services exam 12 times and cheated the UPSC. However, she did not reply to the notice. The department issued another notice and gave her time till August 14. She was instructed to appear before Joint Secretary Rajat Kumar in New Delhi. However, she still did not reply.

Therefore, the department wrote a letter through the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration to the Director of the Yashada in Pune. It was instructed to paste the notice on the residences of Puja Khedkar in Pune and Bhalgaon, taluka Pathardi, district Ahmednagar. Thus, the notice was pasted on the gate of her residence, said sources.

According to the notice, Khedkar was given a last chance to present her stand till August 16. However, she did not reply to it. She has been given protection from arrest by the Delhi High Court after the UPSC dismissed her candidature. A hearing of the case is scheduled on Wednesday (August 21).

Meanwhile, Puja Khedkar’s problems have been compounded. The Delhi Police are investigating the cheating case against her.
