Pune: Divorce granted as couple has no physical intimacy for 14 months

Pune: The Family Court has granted divorce by consent to a couple on the basis that the couple did not have physical intimacy for 14 months. The judge also directed that a flat should be purchased in the name of the son, where he can stay with his mother.

The court has also directed the man that he will have to give Rs 1.80 lakh to the mother per year for the child’s upbringing till he turns an adult. They separated on the condition that the woman will have a 20 pc share in the man’s business. Family Court Judge Kiran Bane-Patil granted divorce to the couple.

Mohan and Malini (names changed) got married in April 2019 in Gujarat. They have a three-year-old son. The couple started quarreling over petty matters. Family members tried to reconcile their differences, but in vain. The woman left her husband’s house in 2023 due to growing differences. She went to her parents’ house. Adv Mangesh Kadam mediated. He filed a suit for divorce on the basis that they did not have physical intimacy for 14 months. Both consented to it.
