Pune: Dog handler booked after Rottweiler bites engineer in Baner

Pune: A man was jogging in the morning when a Rottweiler dog bit his hand. The man, an engineer by profession, received serious injuries in his wrist and hand.
Suyog Raut (49), resident of Baner, lodged a complaint at the Baner Police Station. The police booked the dog’s handler identified as Abhi. The incident took place on the service road leading to Virbhadra Nagar at 7 am on March 23.
According to the police, Suyog Raut was jogging along Pancard Club Road. As he reached the lane leading to Virbhadra Nagar towards Pashan, he sensed that someone was running behind him. As he turned back, he saw the dog pouncing on him. The animal severely bit his right hand and wrist.
The dog handler came running to the victim, tied the leash around the dog’s neck and took it away. Raut underwent treatment for the injuries at Jupiter Hospital for some days. After an enquiry, he identified the dog handler as Abhi and the dog owner as Naynaz Irani. Later, he lodged a complaint. PSI Patil was investigating the matter.
