Pune: Drunk driver hits, seriously injures woman constable in Pune
Pune: A woman traffic police constable on nakabandi duty was hit and seriously hurt by a drunk driver in the city. The incident took place in the Mills area on Sunday midnight.
The police took the incident seriously and an investigation was launched.
According to the details, the vehicle driven by the drunk driver came out of a pub and ran over the woman cop. The vehicle was headed towards RTO from Jehangir Hospital when the incident happened in Naidu Lane within the jurisdiction of the Bund Garden Police Station.
The victim has been identified as Deepmala Raju Nair. The seriously injured woman cop was admitted to a private hospital, where she was undergoing treatment.
Nair was deployed at the check post at midnight when the speedy car hit her. The woman constable was injured. The police were searching for the culprit by examining CCTV footage from the area.
An offence has been registered against an unidentified driver. The police were searching for him.
