Pune: ED Raids Former Construction Chairman of Zilla Parishad, Mangaldas Bandal’s Residences in Money Laundering Case

Pune : Today, on August 20, the Enforcement Directorate raided the houses of the former construction chairman of Zilla Parishad, Mangaldas Bandal, at Shikrapur Burunjwadi. On Tuesday, at 7 a.m., ED officials raided these residences simultaneously.

As per the information, Bandal was earlier interrogated by the Income Tax Department. However, this is the first time that ED has taken action against him. His houses were raided in the money laundering cases.

Mangaldas Bandal was at his residence in Mohammad Wadi, Pune, when ED officials raided his houses. Whereas his wife and former Zilla Parishad member, Rekha Bandal, and Bandal’s brothers were at their residence in Shikrapur. During the raid, ED officials examined various documents and also checked bank lockers related to Bandal.

Bandal is an accused in the Shivajirao Bhosle Cooperative Bank case. In that case, Bandal served a long sentence in jail. He is currently out of jail on bail. His lawyer, Advocate Aditya Saswade, has informed that Bandal has been present four times for the investigation of ‘ED’. Similarly, Bandal regularly cooperates in the investigation work.

Earlier this year, Bandal got the nomination from the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi party for the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency. However, his candidature was later cancelled by the party after he met deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at Indapur during the election. It is said that Bandal is currently preparing to contest the assembly election from the Shirur-Haveli Assembly constituency.
