Pune:

A shocking incident has come to light in which a young man appointed as a caretaker tied the hands and feet of an 80-year-old man and robbed him of cash and a mobile phone at knifepoint. Fortunately, the individual was rescued by his neighbours after he shouted loudly and informed neighbours about it.

The 80-year-old individual has been identified as Prasad Agarwal and lives in the Agrasen Society at Koregaon Park. In this regard, his son, Ravindra Prasad Agarwal (age 56, a resident of Ganga Melrose, Sopan Baug), lodged a police complaint at Koregaon Park Police Station. Accordingly, the police have booked Chintu Chaturvedi (age 19, an original resident of Madhya Pradesh).

This entire incident took place on January 1 at the Agrasen Society of Koregaon Park between 6:45 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

As per the information, the plaintiff, Ravindra Agarwal, lives in the Sopan Baug area along with his family, and his father, Prasad Agarwal, lives alone in the Agrasen society. A few days ago, Ravindra Agarwal appointed Chintu Chaturvedi to take care of Prasad Agarwal.

Chaturvedi would regularly come to Prasad Agarwal’s house in the morning and look after him after completing the domestic work. Similarly, on January 1, Chaturvedi came to Prasad Agarwal’s house in the morning. But this time, he had different intentions. He tied Prasad Agarwal in the bedroom with a nylon rope and closed his mouth with a handkerchief.

Subsequently, the accused threatened Prasad Agarwal at knifepoint and asked him to give everything he had, including money and valuable things. Further, he took away cash money and a mobile phone from Agarwal and absconded from the flat by closing Agarwal in the bedroom. Fortunately, Agarwal managed to remove the handkerchief from his mouth and shouted loudly to call neighbours.

After listening to his voice, Agarwal’s neighbours rushed to his flat and rescued him. After that, police were informed, and the case was registered against Chintu Chaturvedi. Meanwhile, the police sub-inspector, Shantamal Kollure, is investigating further in this case.
