Pune: Elderly Woman Falls Prey to Online Fraudsters, Loses Rs 28.88 Lakh in Black Magic Scam
Pune :
A shocking case has come to light in which an elderly woman was cheated of Rs 28 lakh 88 thousand 722 for performing puja and black magic to remove defects from her daughter. Interestingly, this woman did not meet the accused in person but only got to know them through Facebook.
A 62-year-old woman from Balewadi has filed a complaint in this regard at Baner Police Station. Based on this, the police have registered a case of fraud against the two individuals. This incident took place between December 23 and December 31, 2024.
According to the police information, the plaintiff had met the accused on Facebook. Through online acquaintance, the complainant told the accused about her daughter’s problem. After that, the accused gained the complainant’s trust by saying that someone had done some witchcraft on her. Therefore, to remove the defect from her daughter, the accused told her that she needed to perform puja.
Accordingly, the accused repeatedly demanded money from the plaintiff for puja and langar (lunch) activities. Surprisingly, the plaintiff was also sending him money as he demanded. Accordingly, the plaintiff has sent a total of 28 lakh 88 thousand 722 to the accused’s account so far.
In spite of that, when the plaintiff did not see any changes in her girl, she tried to contact the accused. However, when she could not contact him, she realised that she had been cheated. After that, she rushed to the Baner Police Station and lodged a complaint against the accused. Police have filed the case, and Assistant Police Inspector Anil Kekan is investigating further.
