Pune: Elderly woman’s burnt body found in Kothrud flat, suicide suspected
Pune: A 76-year-old woman’s burnt body was found in a flat at a housing society in Kothrud. The police suspect that she died by suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal Sampatrao Ghuge (76), resident of Guru Ganesh Nagar in the locality. Society residents called up the fire brigade at around 8.30 am on Monday. They told the fire brigade that smoke billowed from the flat.
Fire Brigade Centre Chief Prakash Gore and jawans rushed to the spot. They opened the door of the flat on the first floor and found Ghuge in a critical condition. Other belongings in the flat were safe. She was rushed to hospital, where the doctors declared her dead on arrival. Ghuge was living alone in the rented accommodation, said Prakash Gore.
The Kothrud Police visited the flat after learning about the incident. Ghuge’s children are living separately. Ghuge might have died by suicide, said Sr PI Sandeep Deshmane.
